In an apparent case of racial profiling an 18-year-old violist was savagely beaten by Pittsburgh police after they suspected him of carrying a gun. The plainclothes officers believed the teen to be carrying "something heavy in his jacket," the "something heavy" being a bottle of Mountain Dew. If these officers wanted to inquire about the teens alleged suspicious activity, they could have done it in a way that would not have left him severely bruised and one eye swollen shut.
